Reflecting on your year is a powerful way to create space and encourage personal growth. It is in this place of reflection, that true transformation can occur.

Every December time I enjoy reflecting on my year, that has just been.  This practice has had such a powerful impact on my own life that I highly recommend it for anyone who is interested in living an amazing life.

In this article, I share 5 ideas to help you reflect on your year that has just been.

Idea #1. - Reflect on your Highlights

With each year that passes there will be specific events, situations or people that stand out for you.

Capture these highlights. The more time you spend thinking about your year, the more memories and experiences that will come to mind.  Jot them down, knowing that you can reflect on them all or choose a few of your favorite highlights!

Idea #2. - Reflect on your Challenges

What challenges did you face this year?

Consider that with each challenge there is something for you to learn.  Instead of labeling it as a problem, disaster or difficulty, take the time to look for the lessons on offer. With each challenge you faced what was life trying to teach you? Through your challenges, how is life helping, encouraging and supporting your growth?  Remember with growth, you will be taken beyond your comfort zone.

When you are experiencing problems, difficulties and conflict, know this is when life is asking you to dig deep. It is in these moments of challenge that you are being faced with something new. This is the ideal chance to develop new skills and new ways of thinking.

Remind yourself that the more times you can say yes to challenge, the faster you will grow and the more rewards you will be given.

Idea #3. - Reflect on your Beginnings & Endings

With each year that passes, the one thing you can count on is change.

Life is a journey of constant changing.  Relationships, careers, people, houses, possessions all come and go.  Take some time to reflect on what things you started this year, as well as those that you let go of.

What new things came into your life? Did you start a new hobby, activity or job this year? What ended in your life this year? How did it end? Was it smooth or was it difficult? What did you learn from these experiences?

Idea #4. - Reflect on your Blessings

It has famously been said that those who count their blessings, are given more blessings to count.

Take time to reflect on the following questions. Who and what are you appreciative of? What are you grateful for?

Reflecting on what you are truly grateful for is an inspirational and graceful way of giving thanks and is a powerful way to attract even more blessings into your life.

Idea #5: - Reflect on your Intentions

I love setting intentions. I personally use intentions daily as a powerful way to easily and effortlessly manifest my dreams.

What are your current intentions for your life? As the year draws to an end check that your intentions are still current for you. If not, give yourself permission to let go of your old intentions so that you can set new one that better reflect your current goals and dreams.
