Today I want to share with you a powerful weight loss insight that changed my life and I have a feeling it could do the same for you too.
This insight had such a profound effect on my own life that I have written a book sharing how this one distinction enabled me to change my health and how I felt about my weight and perhaps most importantly, about myself.
In the process, I lost over 60 pounds and kept it off for over 13 years. In the process I also stopped taking prescription medication as I naturally cleared my eczema, my asthma and my chronic fatigue syndrome.

Losing Weight is a Healing Journey
Losing weight is a healing journey, it is not about going “on a diet”. Permanent weight loss is about realizing that you are the only person responsible for your health.
You are the person you have been waiting for. Losing weight is about choosing to go on your own journey of healing.
A healing journey is about taking a holistic approach to your life. Understand that no-one can expect to lose weight for good through just diet and exercise. To lose weight for good it is important to also work with your mind, your thoughts and your emotions.
On your healing journey, take time to address and heal your inner world of thoughts and emotions as well as the outer world of diet and exercise. You will reap incredible reward for doing so.
Realise That No Two Journeys Are The Same.
Your healing journey is about you looking at your life and doing what you need to do to get well inside and outside. Someone else’s healing journey is about them looking within and doing what they need to heal.
Each healing journey will look totally different but successful healing journeys always yield the same results: They will help you to develop high levels of self love, self confidence, self esteem and will leave you feeling empowered. You will realize that not only can you lose weight, but you can do anything!
Instead, of focusing on “losing weight” begin to shift your focus to “creating vibrant health”. This happens naturally when you focus on 3 things: healing your body, healing your mind and healing your emotions.
1. Healing Your Body
Food not only has the ability to change what you look like, it can also shift how you think and feel. Healing foods are low in toxicity and therefore help your body to thrive. Eating healing foods gives you the ability to self-heal and experience having high energy levels.
So what are healing foods? Healing foods are real foods.
These foods are close to how nature intended for them to be eaten and as such are free from chemicals, additives, flavourings, colourings, preservatives, herbacides, insecticides or any other nasties. In my book, I share some of my favourite foods that I like to eat and how they help me to lose weight.
Everyone eats food but the key thing here is to ensure that you are eating the right types of foods that are delicious and also full of nutrition. To help your body heal itself naturally and release toxicity, I recommend doing a cleanse (or a detox).
2. Healing Your Mind
Your thoughts are part of your inner world and must be taken into account if you are to lose weight for good.
Simply begin by noticing which thoughts support you on your weight loss-healing journey and which thoughts are not. It is your supportive thoughts that have the ability to help you on your healing journey.
The more supportive the thoughts you have, the healthier your mind will be. Cultivating the practice of thinking supportive healing thoughts will help you to change your old habits and patterns in a joyful manner.
There are many simple exercises that you can use to change how you think about your bod. Some of my favourite ones to use for weight loss are engaging your imaginition, visualisation, meditation, yoga, affirmations, noticing your self-talk and paying attention to your language patterns.
3. Healing Your Emotions
Building a healthy emotional world is the pivotal foundation to not only losing weight but in keeping it off for good.
Healing your emotions means to do the inner work so that you can experience joyful emotions such as happiness, love, health, energy, trust, forgiveness, courage and strength. When filled with these types of emotions your ability to believe in yourself to achieve your goals becomes resolute and rock solid. As a result you will feel better and your self image, self esteem and self confidence will improve.
